Neil Seery’s UFC Belfast Retirement Fight Canceled

Dubliner Neil Seery has had his retirement fight, planned for UFC Fight Night 99 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, canceled.

The 37-year-old Seery (16-12) had been slated to fight Ian McCall (13-5-1) on Saturday, but that was before McCall was pulled from the fight, as first reported by MMAJunkie.com.

Neil SeeryMcCall was removed from the bout due to illness. It marks his fourth consecutive bout cancellation. McCall had to withdraw from a bout with Dustin Ortiz due to injury late last year. Earlier this year, Justin Scoggins had to pull out of their planned bout due to weight cut issues, and then Ray Borg withdrew due to illness.

Now, it was again on McCall after he fell ill.

Seery, who will get his show money, will not follow through on his plan to retire without getting one last fight in. He told MMAFighting.com, “(I’m) not going out like that.”

Seery vs. McCall was supposed to headline the early prelims on UFC Fight Pass. With the bout’s cancellation, the fight card will move forward with 13 bouts.
