In what is sure to be a fast paced bantamweight war, Japanese fighter Takeya Mizugaki has agreed to face Damacio Page in a 135-pound contest that will be featured WEC 45 on Dec. 19 in Las Vegas.

The bout was first reported by Sherdog.com and has subsequently been confirmed by sources close to the fight with MMAWeekly.com

Since stepping in on short notice to go to battle with former top bantamweight Miguel Torres, Takeya Mizugaki (12-3-2) has shown his well-rounded skills and dangerous hands while becoming a fan favorite.

The Japanese fighter made waves with his phenomenal performance against Torres even in losing, and came back to take on another top bantamweight in his next fight when he faced Jeff Curran in August.

Mizugaki picked up a split decision in a razor close fight against Curran, and he will definitely have his hands full again in his next bout coming up in December.

Damacio Page (12-4) looks to make another big step forward in the 135-pound weight class by taking on Mizugaki, after dispatching of WEC newcomer Will Campuzano by rear naked choke in his last fight. Page, who trains out of Greg Jackson’s gym in New Mexico, will try to make a major move towards a title shot when he faces Mizugaki in a pivotal bantamweight match-up.

The bout between Mizugaki and Page is all but certain for the televised main card that will also feature a lightweight bout pitting Donald Cerrone against Ed Ratcliff.
