MFC Champ Ryan Jimmo Added to UFC on FX 1

November 29, 2011

Ryan JimmoTop Canadian light heavyweight Ryan Jimmo is headed to the Octagon as part of the ever-expanding UFC on FX 1 fight card.

UFC officials on Tuesday announced that Jimmo would square off with Czech fighter Karlos Vemola at UFC on FX 1 on Jan. 20 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. The event marks the UFC’s first offering on the FX network.

Jimmo (16-1) hasn’t lost since the first time he stepped into the ring as a professional nearly five years ago. UFC on FX 1, however, marks his first time the reigning MFC light heavyweight champion has set foot in the Octagon, although he holds victories over UFC veterans Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou, Wilson Gouveia, Marvin Eastman, and Jesse Forbes.

Vemola (8-2) is a stout test for Jimmo’s debut. The Czech fighter is 1-1 since making the move from heavyweight down to 205 pounds over his past couple of fights. Vemola won his light heavyweight debut against Seth Petruzelli, but lost a decision to Ronny Markes at UFC on Versus 5 last August.

Melvin Guillard and Jim Miller headline UFC on FX 1 in a lightweight fight that is expected to bring fireworks to the cage.
