Maximum Fighting Championship is filling up its MFC 28 fight card, the promotion’s first of the New Year. MFC 28: Supremacy is slated for Feb. 25 at River Cree Resort & Casino in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
A fight for the vacant MFC light heavyweight championship heads the card, pitting Ryan Jimmo vs. Dwayne Lewis. Both are Canadian and veterans of the promotion. Jimmo brings a 13-1 record into the fight, losing only the first professional bout of his career four years ago. Lewis, 13-6 overall, is 9-1 in has last 10 fights.
Officially added to the fight card on Tuesday is a bout pitting rising talents Tyrone Glover out the Grudge Training Center and the HIT Squad’s Robert Washington.
“He’s got a similar wrestling background. He’s got some very good jiu-jitsu, but I’m not afraid to go to the ground with him,” Washington detailed. “I’m not going to shoot right in on him but I think I’ll be fine if it goes to the ground because he won’t be able to hold me down.
“But I wouldn’t mind keeping it standing with him. I think my striking is at a level where I can go toe-to-toe with him. I think it’s a good matchup and it’s going to be an exciting fight.”
Glover, who also recently inked a multi-fight contract to join the MFC’s lightweight ranks, echoed his high anticipation for the bout.
“He’s a tough opponent. I’ll be there on Feb. 25 to throw down and put on a good show for the fans.”
Other bouts on the MFC 28 main card that airs on HDNet: Kajan Johnson vs. Richie Whitson, Razak Al-Hassan vs. Rodney Wallace, Thomas Denny vs. Sheldon Westcott, and one more bout still to be announced.
