Mark Munoz To Be Inducted To the California Wrestling Hall Of Fame

Mark Munoz is set to return to the UFC Octagon later this summer in a middleweight match-up against Yushin Okami, but first the former Oklahoma State All-American will take some time this weekend to be inducted into the California State Wrestling Hall of Fame.

The ceremony set for May 15 will honor Munoz’s laundry list of accomplishments in the sport of wrestling where he earned several titles including the 2001 NCAA championship at 197lbs.

Before heading off to college, Munoz was a two-time California State Wrestling champion, a first team All-American, and a National High School champion. Moving on to wrestle with the legendary team at Oklahoma State, Munoz went on to earn back-to-back All-American honors as well as his NCAA wrestling championship.

Munoz was also the first Filipino-American to win the NCAA wrestling championship, and made the NWCA All-Academic team for 3 years as well.

The California State Wrestling Hall of Fame will induct Munoz where he will sit with other famed wrestlers from the Golden State including Olympic Gold medalist Mark Schultz.

The ceremony will be held on May 15 to induct Munoz and the other 2010 candidates for the California State Wrestling Hall of Fame.
