Just days after Maximum Fighting Championships announced the signing of former UFC fighter Marcus Davis, he now has his first opponent and date for a debut.
“The Irish Hand Grenade” will make his first MFC appearance on Friday, April 8 in Windsor, Ontario Canada when he faces veteran lightweight Kajan Johnson in a bout that will air live on HDNet.
Davis will return to action for the first time since losing a fight against Jeremy Stephens in the UFC, that saw his Octagon career come to a close for now.
Still dedicated to fighting however, Davis will look to recharge his career when he debuts for MFC in April.
“I feel I’m sort of the Nostradamus of MMA. When I started in the sport I was talking to boxing magazines and told them that MMA was going to take over boxing. They said I was crazy but it happened. I feel the same about being in the MFC. Mark Pavelich has done a very good job not only developing his brand but also developing his fighters. That’s why I made the choice I did,” Davis said.
“I’m a fighter who wears his heart on his sleeve. I go out and give it all I’ve got to be entertaining. I think my style fits very well with the MFC.”
Davis enters a tough lightweight division in the MFC with fighters like Drew Fickett who just recently re-signed with the promotion as well as champion Antonio McKee.
The former “Ultimate Fighter” competitor is ready to test himself against any of them, but it starts with Johnson in April.
“No matter what, every time I fight, I try to end the fight and I’m bleeding all over somebody,” said Davis.
“I think the MFC lightweight division is stacked but there’s no doubt I’m the best striker. That’s what I’m going to bring. I’m going to get right in there. I’m looking forward to coming in and making a big splash.”
More fights are expected to be announced for the MFC card in the coming weeks.
