A featherweight contest has been added to the WEC’s debut in the Buckeye state. Leonard Garcia has been tapped to face Diego Nunes in an undercard bout on the Columbus, Ohio, event at Nationwide Arena.

The bout was initially reported by MMAJunkie.com. It was confirmed by independent sources to MMAWeekly.com, who stated the fight is set for the March 6 show.

After two impressive wins following his move to 145 pounds, Garcia has fallen on rougher times of late, dropping two of his last three fights in the WEC. Losses to Mike Brown and Manny Gamburyan have fueled him to come back stronger than ever for his next fight.

Working with Greg Jackson and his team in New Mexico, Garcia looks to work back into title contention in an ever-widening WEC featherweight division.

Nunes currently sports a 2-1 record in the WEC. His last fight was a loss to L.C. Davis by decision in December 2009.

The Brazilian has worked with former UFC and Pride champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and his brother in the past. He will look to get back to his winning ways when he faces Garcia in March.

A bantamweight title bout between champion Brian Bowles and challenger Dominick Cruz headlines WEC 47.
