There has been plenty of talk about how the K-1 and Pride shows did in the ratings battle this past weekend. The latest numbers are in for the UFC from this past New Year’s Eve as well. Zuffa did three hours of programming consisting of “Unleashed” and “Best Of” type shows.

According to the pro wrestling website “PWInsider.com” they report quote “For those curious, UFC’s programming did about the same level of viewing as it always has. On 12/31, UFC at 7 PM scored a 0.8 with a 1.5 share. The UFC block from 9 PM to 12 AM following Impact scored a 0.7 cable rating with a 1.5 share. The UFC repeat following the midnight Impact scored a 0.5 cable rating with a 1.7 share.”

For comparision sake, Pride did a 15.3 share, while K1 did a 14.8 share. Obviously the Japanese culture loves the fight game compared to the United States which is just learning about MMA.

For the Japanese promotions to combine for a 30.1 number between the two biggest organizations, compared to the largest US organization, the UFC, and their 1.7 share, shows you how far the MMA scene has to go. There clearly is an interest in Japan for MMA, compared to the states.
