Fifth-ranked 170-pound contender Kelvin Gastelum faces battle-tested veteran Jorge Masvidal at The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America 3 Finale in Mexico City on November 5. UFC officials announced the bout on Wednesday.
Gastelum (12-2), the winner of The Ultimate Fighter 17, is coming off a decision win over former champion Johny Hendricks at UFC 200. A win over Masvidal would move him a step closer to the top of the welterweight division.
Masvidal (30-11) returned to the 170-pound division in July 2015 with mixed results. He’s coming off a win over Ross Pearson at UFC 201 on July 30, but entered the fight on a two-fight losing streak. “Gamebred” is no easy out for anyone, though. His last three losses have been by split decision.
The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America 3 Finale takes place on November 5 at the Arena Ciudad de México in Mexico City. The fight card is headlined by a lightweight bout between former champion Rafael dos Anjos and Tony Ferguson. The winner of TUF Latin America 3 will also be crowned that night.
