In what is primarily a small feeder show for Denver’s Ring of Fire promotion, Friday night’s Battlequest 8 has added an impressive women’s bout to its line-up. EliteXC and Bodog Fight veteran Julie Kedzie will make her return to action at Battlequest to face Angela Hayes.

Kedzie is looking to bounce back from a loss to Tonya Evinger at January’s ShoXC event in Atlantic City, N.J. Prior to the loss, she had won back-to-back bouts in the now-defunct Bodog Fight promotion and appeared to be angling towards a rematch with EliteXC star Gina Carano.

The Greg Jackson-trained fighter steps into Friday night’s bout against Angela Hayes. Born in Germany, Hayes is an experienced kickboxer who competes as part of the Texas Dragons in Chuck Norris’ World Combat League. She has struggled to a 1-3 professional record in mixed martial arts, but has faced some stiff competition in Jennifer Tate and, like Kedzie, Tonya Evinger.

The main event of Battlequest features Kedzie’s teammate John Dodson in a 135-pound showdown against Vern Baca, trained by Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran Brad Gumm. The two are looking to impress as the Tapout Crew will be in attendance with cameras rolling as part of its search for top fighting talent for its Versus reality series, “Tapout.”
