When does more than a month or two go by that there isn’t controversy surrounding “NY Bad Ass” Phil Baroni? As he prepares for one of the biggest fights of his career – against Frank Shamrock on the June 22nd Strikeforce pay-per-view – Baroni is again in the midst of controversy with fellow UFC veteran Josh Burkman. Evidently there was an altercation between the two this past weekend that actually went to blows.

Definitely not one of the more diminutive characters in the sport of mixed martial arts himself, Burkman is in the midst of preparing for his next UFC fight. On May 26th, Burkman is scheduled to face Karo Parisyan, the #7 ranked welterweight fighter in the world, at UFC 71 in Las Vegas, Nev.

Tonight, Josh Burkman joins Damon & Jeff on MMAWeekly Radio live at 6pm PT / 9pm ET to discuss the incident over the weekend and his preparations for Karo Parisyan. I’m sure that Damon & Jeff will also have a few choice words for the boxing apologists, such as CBS Sportsline’s Mike Freeman, who are acting as if this weekend’s Oscar De La Hoya vs. Floyd Mayweather boxing match will be the savior that banishes the evil UFC back to the depths of Hades.
