Two bantamweights looking to make the next step towards contender status will meet in the first ever World Extreme Cagefighting event in Ohio. Scott Jorgensen returns to action to face Chad George in a 135-pound contest at WEC 47 on March 6 at the Nationwide Arena.
The WEC announced the fight on Monday.
Jorgensen steps in following an exciting win over Takeya Mizugaki in December. The Idaho native has been steadily climbing up the bantamweight ranks, and he showed solid stand-up and his traditional wrestling base in the victory over Mizugaki.
Training at home in Idaho as well in California, Jorgensen was also an option to face former champion Miguel Torres at the same event, but will draw George instead.
His opponent currently sits at 1-0 in the WEC after making his debut back in December with a unanimous decision win over John Hosman.
A winner in his last six fights, George looks to make a name for himself in the bantamweight division facing a veteran WEC fighter.
There has been no official word if the fight between Jorgensen and George will make the televised card or be part of the preliminary show.
Brian Bowles defends his bantamweight championship against Dominick Cruz in the WEC 47 main event.
