Top five-ranked flyweights John Dodson (15-6) and John Moraga (14-2) will square off in a rematch at UFC Fight Night 42 in Albuquerque. UFC officials announced the match-up on Wednesday.
The two first fought in December 2010 with Dodson earning a unanimous decision victory.
Since the loss to Dodson, Moraga rose through the ranks with a seven-fight winning streak that earned him a title shot in July 2013. He lost to champion Demetrious Johnson by submission that night. He’s coming off a split-decision win over Dustin Ortiz in his last outing on Jan. 15.
Dodson won The Ultimate Fighter 14 in 2011 and earned a title shot in January of last year. He lost to Johnson by unanimous decision in the title fight, but rebounded with a knockout win over Darrell Montague at UFC 166.
UFC Fight Night: Henderson vs. Khabilov takes place at Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque on June 7. The event is headlined by former lightweight champion Benson Henderson and Rustam Khabilov.
