A lightweight bout between Joe Proctor and Justin Salas has been added to the UFC Fight Night: Cerrone vs. Miller fight card. UFC officials announced the match-up on Wednesday.
Proctor (9-2) appeared on the fifteenth season of The Ultimate Fighter where he advanced to the quarterfinals before losing to James Vick by unanimous decision. The 28-year-old made his promotional debut at The Ultimate Fighter 15 Finale, knocking out Jeremy Larson in the opening round. Proctor would lose his second fight in the Octagon to Ramsey Nijem by unanimous decision. He rebounded from the loss in his last outing by defeating Cristiano Marcello by unanimous decision on Feb. 15.
Salas (12-5) made his UFC debut in February 2012 with a unanimous decision win over Anton Kuivanen, but hasn’t been able to put together back-to-back wins. He lost to Tim Means in his next outing, but bounced back from the loss with a split-decision win over veteran Aaron Riley. The 32-year-old lost to Thiago Tavares by submission in his next fight. He’s coming of a knockout over Ben Wall in his last outing on May 10.
UFC Fight Night: Cerrone vs. Miller takes place at the Revel Casino in Atlantic City on July 16. The event is headlined by a lightweight bout between Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Jim Miller.
