Lightweights Jim Miller and Thiago Tavares will do battle on the undercard of UFC 103 on Sept. 19 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. The news was announced late Monday by the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Miller (14-2) is coming off a bloody decision victory over Mac Danzig at UFC 100, a reversal from a decision loss to Gray Maynard at UFC 96. The win was his third victory and third consecutive decision inside the Octagon. An International Fight League veteran and former champion in Reality Combat and Cage Fury Fighting Championships, the 25-year-old Miller trains out of AMA fight club in Whippany, N.J.

In seven UFC appearances, Tavares (14-3) has faced some of the division’s brightest up-and-comers, with mixed results. After amassing victories over Naoyuki Kotani and Jason Black in mid-2007, he took a rapid step up to face Tyson Griffin at UFC 76, losing by decision. After defeating Michihiro Omigawa at UFC Fight Night 12, he suffered a two-fight slide to Matt Wiman and Kurt Pellegrino. He snapped the short streak with a decision win over Manny Gamburyan at UFC 94 in January. The 24-year-old Tavares fights out of Brazilian Top Team affiliate Ataque Duplo-Murilo Rupp in Florianopolis, Brazil.
