ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – Ring of Combat took place at the Tropicana Casino & Resort on Friday night, with lightweight standout Jim Miller once again proving himself against another of the Northeast’s best 155-pound fighters in Chris Liguori.

Miller defeated Liguori last November with a well-placed elbow that opened a cut over Liguori’s eye, causing a halt to the bout. Friday night’s rematch was again a back-and-forth bout, but Miller left no doubts as he finished Liguori with guillotine choke to get the submission and the Ring of Combat lightweight championship.

In a less than stellar moment, Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran Alex Andrade was disqualified in his bout with International Fight League veteran Krysztof Soszynski for numerous low blows throughout the 9 minutes and 46 seconds of their fight.

Deemed as one of the top up-and-coming Gracie’s in mixed martial arts, Gregor Gracie suffered the first defeat of his young career. He was knocked out with a perfectly timed kick to the head by Doug Gordon as the third round opened.

Gregor’s brother, Igor, also suffered defeat, albeit not as violently, as he lost a unanimous decision to Tom Gallicchio.

What can only be described as a scary moment, John Howard landed several powerful shots to the head of Jose Rodriguez late in the first round of their bout. It was a brutal knockout that finished the fight and saw Rodriguez leaving the ring on a stretcher.
