Eye confirmed the rumored bout on her Facebook page and Twitter on Friday, although the UFC has yet to make it official.
Following a successful 3-0 stint with Bellator, Eye (11-5, 1 NC) made the move to the UFC in 2013. She has struggled ever since. After initially winning her Octagon debut over Sarah Kaufman, Eye’s victory was changed to a no contest when she tested positive to marijuana.
She has since gone 1-4 in her five most recent bouts. Her lone victory is over Leslie Smith. Eye enters the bout with Correia in desperate need of a win, having lost her last three fights.
Correia (9-2) is in similar straights, having lost her last two fights to Ronda Rousey and Raquel Pennington. Although not as desperate for a win as Eye, Correia needs a victory if she wants to start working her way back into title contention. After going 9-0 in her first nine bouts, it shouldn’t take much for Correia to get back on track.
UFC 203 is heavy at the top, literally, with Stipe Miocic putting his heavyweight belt on the line against Alistair Overeem. As well, Fabricio Werdum will try to bounce back from losing the belt to Miocic, by squaring off with Ben Rothwell in another heavyweight contest.
