The light heavyweight bout between Keith Jardine and Mike Nickels has been cancelled and taken off of tonight’s UFC 64 fight card.

Mike Nickels suffered a back injury a couple weeks ago that he thought he would be able to fight through, “I slipped a disk about two weeks ago, but it was feeling better and better every day and I really thought I was ready to fight,” he continued, “I went down to the training room last night to roll around and stay loose and ended up re-aggravating it. I couldn’t throw a light kick. I couldn’t lay on my back or get my hips moving. When I woke up this morning I could barely get out of bed.”

Obvsiously, he had to contact the UFC and let them know that he wouldn’t be able to fight. “I want to fight Keith. I’m still down to fight Keith, no matter what. But I want to give Keith and the fans the best fight I can give him. My apologies are out to Keith and to the fans. I feel bad.”

Nickels is obvisously disappointed, but could not fight with the injury and with no time left to possibly find a replacement the UFC had to pull the fight from tonight’s card.
