Jake Shields: I’ve Been Wanting to Fight GSP for Four Years

Much has been made of Jake Shields coming to the UFC to challenge welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre at UFC 129 on Saturday night in Toronto.

St-Pierre is considered by most to be one of the top two pound-for-pound fighters in the world. He’s ruled the UFC’s 170-pound class for years.

Jake Shields is considered a heavy underdog, overlooked even by many industry pundits. Many feel he will crumble under the pressure of 55,000 GSP fans chanting their hometown hero.

Shields doesn’t care. He doesn’t care about the crowd. He doesn’t care about the naysayers. He doesn’t care about the betting lines. All he cares about is that he is finally getting the fight that he’s lobbied the past four years for.
