Jacare Souza vs. Yoel Romero Rescheduled for UFC on FOX 15

A middleweight bout that was originally scheduled for later this month has been shifted to April 18.

A fight between Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza and Yoel Romero has been rebooked for New Jersey, UFC officials announced on Wednesday. The bout will fill in as the co-main event at UFC on FOX 15 at the city’s Prudential Center.

Jacare-Souza-305-SF-750x370The two 185-pound contenders were originally set to square off at UFC 184 in Los Angeles, but illness forced Souza to back out and the match-up was put on hold.

Souza (21-3, 1 NC) last fought in September 2014, finishing Gegard Mousasi in the main event of a UFC Fight Night card. The win was Jacare’s seventh in a row, and fourth in the UFC since moving over from Strikeforce.

Romero (9-1) is undefeated in the Octagon. Of his five wins in the organization, four have come by way of knockout or technical knockout.

UFC on FOX 15 is scheduled to be headlined by a middleweight fight between Lyoto Machida and Luke Rockhold.
