Brad Imes showed a lot of heart this weekend in an amazing performance against Rashad Evans. Then he had his heart broken just hours later as he lost his mother to a heart attack. Carolyn Imes, was just 56 years old and watched her son compete in Las Vegas. Hours later she passed away. MMAWeekly’s Ryan Bennett had talked to Imes earlier Sunday afternoon…

“I’ve always had a good relationship with Brad as I was fortunate to call his very first fight in WEC. I just touched base with him early Sunday afternoon to have him on our website that night. We talked about his amazing fight and he told me he had a broken nose and hand earlier that day, but was upbeat in the loss. When I called him later that night to confirm, he was understandably shaken and he told me the bad news. I was heart broken for him. She was too young to pass on. I’m devestated for Brad.”

The UFC gave this official statement from their website. “Zuffa sends its sincerest condolences to Ultimate Fighter finalist Brad Imes on the loss of his mother, Carolyn Elizabeth Imes, who passed away suddenly from a heart attack on Sunday, November 6th in Las Vegas. She was 56. Carolyn, a native of Kansas City, Missouri, was in attendance for Brad’s courageous effort against Rashad Evans on Saturday night, and our thoughts and prayers are with Brad and the entire Imes family during this difficult time…”
