Following Yoel Romero’s knockout win over Lyoto Machida at UFC Fight Night 70 on Saturday, Romero gave an impassioned speech that many believed was referencing the recent Supreme Court ruling that nationally legalized same-sex marriage.

Others heard something different. Whatever Romero said in his post-fight interview, fighters took to Twitter in reaction.
A moment to praise freedom of speech. We all have things we believe. We can all say them publicly, everyone has the right to make fun of us.

Can’t recall any instances in the bible of Jesus having sex of any kind. So maybe he is gay? #gayjesus @RyanLoco — Coach (@CMPunk) June 28, 2015
I’m pretty sure he just yelled a bunch of homophobic stuff but it was so hard to understand that no one is sure if they’re offended or not.

I thought Yoel said “Get back to Jesus” not anything about “gays”…. Am I wrong? Was hard to understand — Matt Brown (@IamTheImmortal) June 28, 2015
Everyone has their beliefs. Everybody doesn’t need to be up in arms but we should definitely all have a good laugh at the nonsense.

Did Romero say Go for Jesus not Gay Jesus? I didn’t know there was a Gay Jesus. Either way I think he should give Gay Jesus a chance. — Nick Newell (@NotoriousNewell) June 28, 2015
I may in fact, be gay Jesus. pic.twitter.com/56OdOw4kAc

Idk maybe I’m tripping but sounds like Yoel was about to go at the USA for making Gay Marriage legal. Am I tripping?
— Kevin Lee (@MoTownPhenom) June 28, 2015
Well I thought I was bad at doing post fight interview ! #gayJesusPeople #stool

Sorry Yoel Romero but to each there own, I support whatever makes you happen. I’m no one to tell you what to support or not..

That was sad to hear…was once a fan. #LoveIsLove

Free speech doesn’t always translate to good platform choice. Sounded like “forget Jesus” though I’m not sure what else he’d be referring to
— Josh Samman (@JoshSamman) June 28, 2015
Well done to the UFC guy that stopped @YoelRomeroMMA going wherever he was going when he jump the octagon fence #UFCHollywood

I just don’t think it’s a good idea to come to a foreign country and insult their morals and policy. I’m tripping

Everybody on the post fight panel is holding it together but you know they all want to go “DID HE REALLY JUST FUCKIN SAY THAT?”
— Andre Fili (@TouchyFili) June 28, 2015
Maybe it was a misunderstanding.

After the big win tonight Yoel Romero made some insensitive remarks that in no way reflect the feelings or ideals of the Torque family.
