The welterweight finals are set for season two of Bellator Fighting Championships as American Top Team fighter Dan Hornbuckle faces off against NCAA champion wrestler Ben Askren, and the fight is now scheduled for June 17 in Kansas City, MO.

The show will take place at the Kansas City Power and Light District with Hornbuckle and Askren squaring off to determine the top 170lb fighter for season 2.

The winner of the fight between Hornbuckle and Askren will face off later this year with Bellator welterweight champion Lyman Good, who has been on the sidelines since winning the title last June.

The fight will also be a homecoming for Askren, who competed at the University of Missouri, where he won two NCAA wrestling titles at the school.

Also announced for the card will be rising heavyweight fighter Cole Konrad, who is expected to be a part of the upcoming Bellator heavyweight tournament, as he faces off against John Orr. Local fighter Tyler Stinson will square off against Leonardo Pechana, while Tammie Schneider and Lisa Ward do battle in the women’s division.

The show kicks off on Thursday night June 17 with Hornbuckle and Askren leading the way as the second season of Bellator starts to come to a close this summer, before kicking off season three in August.
