UFC president Dana White broke the news on Wednesday’s edition of UFC Tonight.
“Holly Holm will fight before she fights Ronda,” said White.
Following Holm’s second-round knockout of Rousey at UFC 193 in November, White and UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta indicated in interviews that Holm’s next fight would be a rematch with Rousey at UFC 200 in July.

White even said, “Me and Lorenzo (Fertitta) should probably lose our promoter’s license if we didn’t make that rematch.”
But Holm expressed the desire to compete before the July event. She’ll get what she wanted. Miesha Tate, who was promised a title shot before Holm was named as Rousey’s UFC 193 opponent, is the logical opponent for Holm’s first title defense.
White and Fertitta won’t lose their promoter’s license, but having gone through a recent renegotiation of Holm’s contract, extending it for multiple fights, they acquiesced.
As far as Rousey, she’s filming movies, preparing to host Saturday Night Live and taking some much needed time away from fighting.
“You will see Ronda Rousey fight again. Ronda has dedicated the last three-plus years working hard, not just fighting but promoting, taking the sport and the UFC to another level. Ronda has some well deserved time off, but she will fight this year.”
