The final fight for Pride Shockwave 2006 has been announced. Hidehiko Yoshida will be fighting British slugger James Thompson.

Yoshida is coming off a TKO loss to Mirko Cro Cop at Pride Critical Countdown Absolute 2006. He was unable to continue after Cro Cop slowly picked him apart with low kicks, forcing the referee to stop the fight after Yoshida was dropped by the devastating power in the kicks, unable to get back up. Thompson is coming off of a loss to Scandinavian grappling wizard Jon Olav Einemo at 2 Hot To Handle: Pride & Honor. Thompson looked good early on, dictating the fight on the feet but once it hit the ground, Thompson looked like a fish out of water as he was submitted with an armbar.

This last fight rounds out what should be an exciting night of fights at Pride Shockwave 2006. In the main event, Pride Heavyweight Champion Fedor Emelianenko defends his title against K-1 World Grand Prix 2001 Champion Mark Hunt. Josh Barnett and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira meet in a rematch of their epic semi-final match from Pride Final Conflict Absolute 2006.
Pride Middleweight Grand Prix 2005 Champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua takes on Yoshida protégé Kazuhiro Nakamura. In a non-title bout, Takanori Gomi faces rising lightweight star Mitsuhiro Ishida.
