The numbers are back from Japan and the Hero’s fight promotion has to be smiling ear to ear with the ratings they pulled from their last show.

MMAWeekly’s Scott Petersen reports that the Japan Times reports that the Hero’s show featuring Kid Yamamoto and Bob Sapp, not only sold out the arena with close to 11,000 fans but the show did a 16.6 rating.

To give you an idea of how good of a number that is, the Pride Grand Prix show featuring Sakaraba, Tamura, Wanderlei Silva, and Mirko Cro Cop among others last month did a 14.6.

The Wrestling Observer reports that the Hero’s show went head to head with baseball’s Tokyo Giants vs Chunichi Dragons baseball game and Hero’s a home run over the baseball competition as baseball hit a measly 9.4 rating compared to Hero’s 16.6.

The show is a draw on TV and Pride has to be concerned already that a new promotion, with K-1 ties is already a hit in just a couple of shows. It will be interesting to see how Pride counters this summer with plenty of shows scheduled each month.
