It has been a crazy day for AMA Fight Club fighter Dan Miller, who lost his original opponent for UFC 98, Yushin Okami, to a knee injury. He was then expected to face Team Quest member Ed Herman. Now it appears Herman has been pulled from the spot, and will be replaced by teammate Chael Sonnen for the May 23 middleweight bout.

The change of opponents was confirmed to MMAWeekly.com late on Thursday by sources close to the fight.

Chael Sonnen was set to face Wilson Gouveia at UFC 102 in late August, but will instead opt for the earlier fight in May, although nothing rules him out completely from fighting again later this summer.

After a successful run in the WEC that left him the uncrowned middleweight champion, Sonnen suffered a setback during his first fight back with the UFC, losing to Demian Maia by submission in February.

The reason for the change from Herman to Sonnen is unknown at this time, but Herman did just come off of a three-round decision win at UFC 97 in mid-April and the time between fights may be cutting it close for his preparation.

When reached for comment on Thursday by MMAWeekly.com, Sonnen added that he hopes to take both the fight in May and the bout in August against Gouveia.
