The UFC could be planning a second trip to the Garden State.

MMAWeekly has learned that the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., is under consideration for UFC 111 on March 13, 2010, according to a source close to negotiations.

The event would feature welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre’s fourth title defense against Dan Hardy.

MMAFanhouse first reported the event’s possibility Wednesday afternoon.

The promotion has not been to New Jersey since UFC 78, when “Ultimate Fighter” winners Rashad Evans and Michael Bisping squared off at the Prudential Center in November 2007. The event drew over 14,000 fans and a gate just north of $2 million, though many criticized it for a lackluster card.

Following his win over Mike Swick at UFC 105, Hardy and St-Pierre met in the Octagon to hype their future fight.

“Dan proved that he is a great fighter and a big, big threat to my title,” said St-Pierre.

Earlier this month, the welterweight champion said he is 100-percent healed from a torn abductor he suffered in July in his third title defense against Thiago Alves.

The New Jersey Athletic Control Board, which regulates MMA in the state, does not yet have a March 13 UFC event on its schedule.
