After a hard fought three-round fight, Gina Carano kept her perfect record in tact by winning a unanimous decision over Kelly Kobold on Saturday night.

Early on it was apparent that Kobold was intent on pressing Carano in the clinch, while working for the takedown throughout the fight.

“I knew she was going to come in exactly how she did, so I think that might have helped me in my mental preparation for this fight,” Carano said about Kobold’s strategy following the bout. “It was tough.”

Carano only gave up one takedown during the entire fight, but it came towards the end of the second round and she was in no real danger at all.

To her credit, Carano worked her opportunities to perfection by hitting Kobold at every turn whenever the fighters separated, while also opening a huge gash on the inside of her opponent’s eyebrow in the first round.

At the end of the third round, Carano looked to finish the fight as she unloaded a head kick that landed flush on Kobold’s chin, but she survived and the bout came to a close.

With the win, Carano once again proves why she is one of the best female fighters in the world. She also may have her next opponent already lined up as Christiane “Cyborg” Santos sat cageside watching the action.

“If that’s who they put in front of me,” Carano stated about a match-up with Cyborg. “She’s an awesome fighter, just like fighting Kelly, it will be an honor.”
