Frankie Edgar Blasts Conor McGregor, Says UFC is Protecting Him

Second-ranked featherweight and former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar wanted to step in for the injured Jose Aldo against Conor McGregor at UFC 189 but was passed over in favor of Chad Mendes.

Following McGregor’s TKO win over Mendes on July 11, Edgar approached the Octagon and congratulated McGregor. He also lobbied for a fight between the two.

On Wednesday, Edgar answered questions from fighters and fans on Twitter and blasted the newly crowned interim champion and accused the UFC of protecting the Irishman.
