Former WEC featherweight champion Mike Brown will step up to face Estevan Payan at UFC on FOX 11, officials announced on Wednesday.
Brown comes into the fight for an injured Sean Soriano to meet Payan on the card, which takes place April 19 in Orlando, Fla.
Brown (26-9) last fought in August of last year at UFC fight Night 26 in Boston in an undercard bout against Steven Siler. The outing didn’t last long, however, and Siler knocked out Brown at just 50 seconds into the first round.
Payan (14-5, 1 NC) is coming off a loss as well, dropping his last fight to Robbie Peralta at UFC 168 last December. The loss was Payan’s second in a row, and the fighter is yet to taste victory since coming to the UFC from Strikeforce.
UFC on FOX 11 is scheduled to be headlined by a heavyweight bout between Travis Browne and Fabricio Werdum.
