Felipe Arantes Steps in to Replace Injured Godofredo Pepey at UFC Fight Night 28 on FS1

FelipeArantes_HeadshotAn injury has forced Godofredo Pepey out of his scheduled Sept. 4 match-up with Sam Sicilia at UFC Fight Night 28, and Felipe Arantes has been named Pepey’s replacement.

UFC officials announced the new matchup on Thursday.

Arantes (15-4-1) made his UFC debut at UFC 134 in August 2011, losing a decision to Yuri Alcantara.  He’s coming off a technical knockout win over Pepey on June 8.

Sicilia (11-3) made his way to the UFC through The Ultimate Fighter reality show.  He was defeated in the opening round of the tournament by Chris Saunders in a controversial decision.  He won his official UFC debut by knocking out Cristiano Marcello during The Ultimate Fighter 15 Finale, but has lost back-to-back fights.

UFC Fight Night 28 takes place at Mineirinho Arena in Belo Horizonte, Brazil and his headlined by a light heavyweight matchup between Glover Teixeira and Ryan Bader.

Arantes vs. Silcilia is expected to be part of the preliminary portion of the card.  The main card will air live on Fox Sports 1.
