Leading up to tonight’s fight at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nev., Scandinavian fighter Joachim Hansen sat down at Caesar’s Palace, after more than 20 hours of travel, to talk exclusively with MMAWeekly.com to talk about his fight against Pride neophyte Jason Ireland.

Hansen is making his return to the Pride after losing a disappointing New Year’s Eve fight to submission wizard Shinya Aoki, who is now ranked as the #6 Lightweight in the MMAWeekly Rankings. Hansen, who is now the #7 Lightweight in the MMAWeekly Rankings, gave his thoughts on losing to Aoki and talked about the “rubbery” style of Aoki’s submission game.

Hansen immediately went back to work following the fight with Aoki, specifically working on his boxing. Hansen talks about taking a boxing bout in his homeland to get his winning spirit back before refocusing solely on MMA for his fight with Ireland tonight in the U.S.

We’ll likely see Hansen next in the Pride Lightweight Grand Prix in the spring, but tonight he steps in to face Ireland in the opening bout of Pride’s “Second Coming” to America.

There was also a brief post-weigh-in question and answer session with some of tonight’s fighters, and a surprise appearance by former NFL star Herschel Walker.

MMAWeekly brings you both this exclusive interview with Joachim Hansen and the Pride post-weigh-in press conference up now on MMAWeekly TV.
