Welterweight Jake Ellenberger (21-4) is the latest addition to the UFC roster, recently signing a four-fight contract with the promotion, according to sources close to negotiations.

The 24-year-old native of Omaha, Neb., will make his Octagon debut Sept. 19 at UFC Fight Night 19 when he steps in for an injured Chris Lytle to face former WEC welterweight champion Carlos Condit. The Cox Convention Center hosts the event, which serves as a lead in to the tenth season of “The Ultimate Fighter.”

“I’ll be happy to escort Condit out of the UFC,” Ellenberger told MMAWeekly.com on Thursday.

Ellenberger is a native of Omaha, Neb., where he is an assistant wrestling coach at the University of Nebraska. Known for his powerful ground and pound, he is a four-year veteran of the sport who’s appeared in Bodog Fight, the IFL, and most recently, Bellator Fighting Championships. He currently trains out of Elite Performance Gym alongside UFC veterans Ryan Jensen and Jason Brilz.

Ellenberger plans to visit Dan Henderson at Team Quest South in preparation for next month’s bout. He is a former member of Team Quest North in Gresham, Ore.
