The hits just keep on coming for Duane “Bang” Ludwig.

Following an eight-month recovery from a severe leg injury in March, Ludwig returned to the Octagon last week at UFC 122 in Germany. He came out of the fight with a narrow split decision victory over Nick Osipczak… and another injury.

Not anything like the spiral fracture and broken ankle that required three screws to repair, Ludwig broke his right thumb in the fight with Osipczak.

The injury, which he believes occurred about two minutes into the opening round, will require surgery, Ludwig told MMAWeekly.com on Wednesday. He will go in Thursday afternoon for a couple hours to have the thumb repaired and then take some time off to enjoy his new son, Duane Bang Ludwig.

Bang Sr.’s “little ninja” – who originally wasn’t expected until later this month – came into the world a little early. Just after dad left for his fight in Germany, Li’l Bang decided it was time.

Dad was wrought with emotion after his win over Osipczak at UFC 122, yearning to meet his son. The broken thumb will now give him a little extra time to just that.
