It has been a while since the MMA world has seen David Terrell. He was supposed to fight Trevor Prangley at UFC 54 but had to pull out because of a soft tissue injury in his elbow area.

The injury is a muscle tear in the elbow area that will only heal with inactivity. The expected recovery time is about 14 weeks. ” The doctor has warned me training early will cause re-injury and start the healing process all over.” Terrell went on to say his doctor describes his injury as similar to the hamstring tear that has plagued Cincinnati Reds outfielder Ken Griffey Jr. for the last several years. Griffey came back too early and has created a chronic problem. Terrell is planning on avoiding that situation.

Terrell went on to say that he is VERY anxious to fight again. He has heard the speculation that begins to swirl after a prolonged layoff. Terrell was very animated as he wanted to assure his fans and the MMA world he will be back better than ever, most likely at the beginning of 2006.

Terrell indicated he would love to fight on the February UFC card or on any of the Spike TV specials that were scheduled once he was healthy. Terrell told me he is spending most of his time training his students from the Nor Cal Fighting Alliance for various regional MMA and Grappling events.
