Sometimes, a match-up just makes perfect sense.
Mickey Gall and Sage Northcutt made their way to the UFC through company president Dana White’s reality series Lookin’ for a Fight. 20-year-old Northcutt was featured on the debut episode and signed by the organization following his second-round submission of Rocky Long at Legacy FC 44.
Twenty-four-year-old Gall was featured on the series’ third episode and signed by the fight promotion after defeating Ron Templeton at Dead Series MMA 17. After the win, Gall’s professional debut, he seized the opportunity to call out CM Punk with White in attendance. He was granted the shot at Punk under one stipulation: he had to win his UFC debut. He did just that, taking out Mike Jackson in 45 seconds.

At UFC 203 on Saturday, Gall and Punk finally met inside the cage. Gall mauled the former professional wrestler turned mixed martial artist. After the first-round submission of Punk, Gall called out Northcutt.
“I want ‘Super’ Sage Northcutt. I think that boy’s corny. I want to punch the spikes out of his hair,” said Gall. “They say we’re Dana White: Lookin’ for a Fight young guns. Let us bang it out.”
White was open to the bout and said Northcutt is as well.
“After (Gall) called him out, Sage’s team hit me up and they want the fight, so we’ll make it happen.”
