Dana White Done With Jon Jones, Says He Should Clean House

July 8, 2016

After years of dealing with numerous out-of-the-Octagon issues swirling around Jon Jones, UFC president Dana White has run out of road when it comes to giving one of the greatest fighters of all time more room to course correct his life.

Jones has crashed his car after drinking, fled from the scene of a hit-and-run accident that he caused, he’s been popped for violating his probation, and tested positive for cocaine in an out-of-competition drug test.

Although it wasn’t any sort of violation, Jones refused to accept a last-minute replacement for UFC 151, with the promotion eventually deciding to cancel the event altogether. That certainly didn’t sit well with UFC brass.

Earlier this week is what really set White off, however, as Jones was flagged for a potential anti-doping violation, forcing him out of the UFC 200 main event opposite Daniel Cormier.

The latest was just a step too far for White.

Dana White Serious Over Jon Jones 750“How many chances can you give this guy? How many breaks can you cut this kid?” White asked Friday on The Herd on FS1.

“Listen, I don’t know where Lorenzo (Fertitta) is on this specific issue, but I still haven’t talked to Jon Jones. There’s nothing for me and Jon Jones to talk about. I haven’t and I’m not gonna. There is nothing for us to talk about.”

At the end of the day, White agreed to likening Jones’ situation to that of former boxing champion Mike Tyson, whose career in boxing crumbled when he surrounded himself primarily with friends who didn’t exactly help steer his career in the right direction.

“I’m not the biggest Jon Jones fan right now, but I truly believe that he did take a supplement, that had the stuff in it, and it wasn’t intentional. I truly believe that,” White continued. “But at the same time, come on. You’re 28 years old. You’re probably the greatest talent to ever step foot in this sport. Call USADA and tell them what supplements you’re taking.

“You’ve already been through this history of just absolute madness. Why would you do this — forget doing this to us — why would you do this to yourself?

“You’re a grown-up, and the guys that are around him are just as bad. The guys that are supposed to be looking out for him and watching his back. Give me a break. Give me a break. Jon should have cleaned house a long time ago. That’s what Jon should have done.”
