Swanson (25-9) will enter the bout coming off back-to-back losses to top contenders Brian Ortega and Frankie Edgar. The 34-year-old California native will have the Los Angeles crowd behind him when he faces the Brazilian rising star.
Moicano (12-1-1) is coming off a decision win over Calvin Kattar on April 7 and has only lost once in his career. He was submitted by Ortega at UFC 214. The 29-year-old hopes to add another big name to resume when he takes on the veteran Swanson.
UFC 227 takes place at the Staples Center on Aug. 4 and is headlined by the rematch between bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw and Gody Garbrandt. The two previously fought at UFC 217 where Dillashaw defeated Garbrandt by second round knockout to claim the title.
