Conor McGregor Says He’d Kill Floyd Mayweather and Floyd Scoffs At the Idea

April 18, 2015

Conor McGregor says things sometimes and you have to wonder whether he’s serious, joking, delusional, or just plain taking crazy pills.

This week’s contribution from the valedictorian of the Chael Sonnen School of Trash-Talk? The topic of Floyd Mayweather.

Conor talked to Esquire Magazine and said he’d straight kill Floyd if the two ever faced off. To the quoteage!

“I don’t look at a man who’s expert in one area as a specialist,” he says. “I look at him as a rookie in ten other areas. If you can box, what happens if I grab hold of your legs? If you put me face-to-face with Floyd Mayweather—pound-for-pound boxing’s best—if I fought Floyd, I would kill him in less than thirty seconds. It would take me less than thirty seconds to wrap around him like a boa constrictor and strangle him.”

OK then.

Apparently, the always trusty TMZ crew caught up with Floyd’s entourage and they informed the site that the boxer “scoffed” at the idea that Conor would be able to do anything remotely close to what he’s talking about. Floyd thinks Conor is a joke, per TMZ.

“I don’t take that dude seriously. He’s just trying to get himself some publicity.”

Since this fight will obviously never happen, let’s review what fights they actually do have coming up. Conor’s got Jose Aldo in July in what’s probably going to be the biggest drawing UFC featherweight fight of all time. Floyd is fighting Manny Pacquiao on May 2 in a fight that will dwarf whatever Conor and Jose draw.

Yay sports beefs.
