CM Punk is a former WWE Superstar, who walked out on professional wrestling in the same venue, Quicken Loans Arena, that he will make not only his UFC debut in, but his mixed martial arts debut, all rolled into one. While there are many critics, the legends of wrestling came out on social media to support Punk’s journey into a new career.

I started working with CM Punk about five years ago when my wife was working for the WWE. While everyone else was preparing for their matches, Punk said, “Rener, can you teach me some jiu-jitsu?” So we went to the arena and we rolled for a few hours on the floor mats surrounding the ring. He was humble, gracious and has been a great friend ever since. Everyone is entitled to an opinion regarding whether Punk should or shouldn’t be allowed to fight in the UFC. But one thing is certain, he set his mind to it, he said he was going to do it, and he is doing it. In that sense he already won. Congratulations bro!
