With just 10 days to go until fight time, Clay Guida has drawn a new opponent for UFC 225, which takes place on June 9 in Chicago.
Guida had originally been slated to face Bobby Green in his hometown. Green, however, was removed from the bout for undisclosed reasons and replaced by Charles Oliveira. UFC officials confirmed the move on Wednesday.
Guida (34-17) gave his career a much needed recharge over the past year. After having floundered at featherweight for about four years, amassing a 3-4 record at 145 pounds, Guida returned to lightweight last year. He defeated Erik Koch early last summer and then took out Joe Lauzon in November.
Guida had been a perennial contender at lightweight before he experimented at featherweight, but couldn’t quite recapture that success in the lighter weight class. Now that he’s back at 155 pounds and won his first two fights upon returning, he’ll fight in his hometown opposite Oliveira in an attempt to continue climbing toward lightweight title contention.

Oliveira (22-8, 1NC) started in the UFC as a lightweight, but like Guida, dropped down to featherweight. After a strong start in his first couple of 145-pound fights, Oliveira continuously struggled to make weight, leading him to a lightweight return in 2017.
He has since gone 1-1, defeating Will Brooks before losing to Paul Felder. Oliveira will attempt to get back on track by accepting a short-notice fight again Guida.
