Can Raquel Pennington Turn the Tables on Amanda Nunes at UFC 224?

When UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes first emerged in the Octagon, she had her early success upended by Cat Zingano before embarking on her current six-fight winning streak.

Nunes only seemed to be emboldened by her loss to Zingano in 2014, as she turned around and defeated the likes of Shayna Baszler, Sara McMann, and Valentina Shevchenko (twice). Not only did she take out the best contenders the division had to offer, she cut off the head of the snake, taking the UFC bantamweight belt from Miesha Tate and defending it against Ronda Rousey, two of the sports premier women.

Now, Raquel Pennington hopes to flip the script and be the one to dethrone Nunes.

On the heels of a four-fight winning streak that also includes Tate, Pennington will get her opportunity to try and wrest the belt away from Nunes in the UFC 224 main event on May 12 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
