With the Ultimate Fighting Championship juggernaut preparing their return to England, most fans, especially in the U.S., have been quick to write off Cage Rage as an also ran. But don’t be so quick to discount the British promotion, which has become the leading promotion in Europe since their debut in 2002.

“We’ve got the biggest brand in Europe. It’s going to stay that way regardless of who else is coming over,” said a confident Andrew Geer, who heads Cage Rage along with Dave O’Donnell. “People in the States typically underestimate the European market. We have massive TV deals over there, free TV deals; it’s just not a pay-per-view culture over there in the U.K. But the U.S. is definitely the largest market [for MMA].”

Not only does Cage Rage already have solid TV deals in the European market, but they are soon to be on American television as well. They are also looking to strengthen their position by joining the recent coalition of forces that was announced earlier this week at the K-1 / Pro Elite press conference in Los Angeles, Calif. The new coalition brings Cage Rage together with K-1, Pro Elite, BodogFight, StrikeForce, and Spirit MC in an effort to share resources and help build true world champions.

Geer and O’Donnell recently spoke with MMAWeekly on MMAWeekly TV while in Los Angeles to address the U.S. TV deal, the coalition and more.
