An injury has forced Nebraska fighter Jason Brilz off the upcoming UFC 122 card in Germany. In to replace him will be Chute Boxe fighter Alexandre “Cacareco” Ferreira, who will now face Vladdy Matyushenko in a light heavyweight bout on the undercard.

The news was confirmed to by sources close to the match-up regarding Ferreira’s placement in the fight.

Making his long awaited UFC debut, Alexandre “Cacareco” Ferreira comes to the UFC with an 18-6 record, including a current 7-fight win streak. The Brazilian has been gunning for a shot in the Octagon ever since an apparent match-up with former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida fell through a few years back.

Ferreira was also supposed to be a part of the defunct Shine Fights show back in May that was canceled, and since that time he’s been on the sidelines waiting for an opportunity to arrive.

Guess what? Opportunity just knocked.

Ferreira will face a very tough test in his UFC debut as he faces experienced wrestler and grappler Vladdy Matyushenko, who returns to action after a disappointing performance in his last fight against Jon Jones in early August.

The bout between Ferreira and Matyushenko will remain on the untelevised undercard for the German show set to go down November 13, and air via tape delay on Spike TV that evening.
