Brian Stann: “I Can Fight with Any Middleweight on the Planet” (UFC 152 Video)

Posted on by MMAWeekly.com Staff

Despite losing to Michael Bisping – whom he ranks as the No. 2 middleweight in the world behind Anderson Silva – “All American” Brian Stann is still confident in his abilities.

At 32 years of age, he’s not a spring chicken, but Stann feels like his body is still intact and his skills keep getting better as time goes by.

Bisping couldn’t finish the former Marine, and now, Stann believes he can hang with any middleweight in the world.

Check out what else Brian Stann had to say in his UFC 152 post-fight comments…

great guy…like he said, there is room for improvement, and i hope he does. i would have loved to see what could have happened if there was an extra minute in round one, but hey, thats the way it goes sometimes. bisping is a well rounded fighter with an amazing gas tank. hope stann comes back better for the loss.

would like to see bisping face franklin, belfort, belcher, or weidman. if he beats any one of them, i say he deserves a shot at the strap.

All American…. that constantly is associated with Stann. Where does it come from?
Is that from some athletic achievement or something his publicist hung on him?

He earned the name All American by going to the U.S Naval Academy where he played football and was awarded a Silver Star during his time in USMC.

I’m not one of these people that senselessly hates on Bisping, but he’s a long way from staking a claim to being the second best middleweight on the planet. Stann is a good fighter, but at best he’s a borderline top 10 guy. I’d rank Stann in the 11-15 range, but wouldn’t have a huge problem with anyone who puts him in the back half of the top 10.

It could be argued that, outside of Stann, Bisping doesn’t have a single top 15 victory. Rivera, Akiyama, and Leben are decent fighters, but not exactly world-beaters. Having a resume that boasts one borderline top 10 win certainly doesn’t EARN title consideration. Not even close.
