The Denver fighters have to happy the UFC is coming back to the Mile High City. Brendan Schaub, a finalist from last season’s “Ultimate Fighter”, will return to action in his home state to do battle against Chase Gormley in a heavyweight contest on the card.

The bout was confirmed to MMAWeekly.com on Monday by sources close to the fight.

Brendan Schaub burst onto the scene in 2009 as a training partner of top UFC heavyweight contender, Shane Carwin, but soon made a name for himself as a fan favorite on the tenth season of the “Ultimate Fighter”.

Making it all the way to the finals with impressive finishes along the way, Schaub got caught in the first round of his finale fight against eventual champion, Roy Nelson, and suffered the first loss of his pro career.

Now ready to bounce back, Schaub will call on his home state fans for support as he faces Chase Gormley, who makes his second appearance in the Octagon with this fight.

Previously undefeated, Gormley suffered the first loss of his career in his UFC debut in October 2009 when he was submitted by Stefan Struve in the first round of their bout at UFC 104.

The two heavyweights will square off in the UFC’s first trip back to Denver since a Fight Night event in April 2008. The card will also be the promotion’s first show on the Versus network since working a new deal with the cable network just a month ago.
