The Ultimate Fighting Championship on Monday announced a lightweight bout pitting Mark Bocek against newcomer Joe Brammer for “The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights” finale, confirming an earlier report from MMAWeekly.com.

Brammer takes the place of Matt Veach, who recently stepped into a feature bout position against Frankie Edgar when Edgar’s original opponent, Kurt Pellegrino, had to withdraw due to a back injury.

Brammer (7-0-1) recently signed a four-fight deal with the UFC after defending his Midwest Cage Championships title in September against WEC veteran Chris Mickle. He trains out of Des Moines Jiu-Jitsu and Des Moines MMA Academy, where he works alongside UFC veterans Josh Neer, Jeremy Stephens, and Kevin Burns.

Bocek (7-2) has gained momentum in the Octagon with back-to-back wins. He’ll look to continue the streak against Brammer. Bocek is 3-2 in the UFC.

The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights finale takes place on Dec. 5 at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. It will air live on Spike TV. The series finalists and a light heavyweight bout between Jon Jones and Matt Hamill headline.
