Benny Alloway vs. Rick Alchin Confirmed for BRACE 23 in Townsville, Australia

September 22, 2013

Benny AllowayAustralian Benny Alloway will fight for the first time since being cut from the UFC when he faces Rick Alchin at BRACE 23 in Townsville, Australia, on Oct. 26.

Alloway (12-5) made his way to the UFC via The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes and went 1-2 in the Octagon prior to being cut. He will now concentrate on life outside of the big show.

First up is Alchin (6-6), who has built his record on domestic shows in Australia. Alchin is coming off a first-round submission victory over Julian Matenga at NSWSGCSA-Next Generation last month on the Central Coast, and will be looking for back-to-back wins for just the second time in his three-year MMA career.

“It’s a good opportunity for Alchin to show what he can do after being unsuccessful in the Ultimate Fighter tryouts that just passed,” promoter Kya Pate told The MMA Corner.

“We are excited to have Ben back inside the BRACE cage. Since BRACE 5, he has been part of our roster. Seeing him compete on the world stage has been rewarding for us, but having him back in Australia is fantastic.”

The BRACE card will be headlined by a lightweight clash between Gokhan Turkyilmaz and Kevin Manderson. The show will be streamed live on at 7 p.m. AEST. For more details visit
