In a bold move, Bellator will air the Ortiz-Bonnar fight on Nov. 15 at the Valley View Casino, the same evening as the UFC 180 pay-per-view
“You can talk about me all you want, but when you talk about my family and my fans, it’s personal,” Ortiz told Bonnar, moments before the two engaged in an in-cage scuffle.
The two former UFC fighters have been trading shots on social media since it was recently announced that Bonnar had signed with Bellator. Thereafter, reports circulated that the two would be matched in an upcoming Bellator fight card.
During the Bellator 123 broadcast on SpikeTV, Ortiz and Bonnar entered the cage and engaged in a verbal back-and-forth until Ortiz put his hands on his pending opponent. The two were then separated by Bellator officials.
In a rare instance, Bellator will air the Ortiz-Bonnar card the same night as their largest competitor, the UFC, will air a pay-per-view. UFC 180 will feature the promotion’s heavyweight champion, Cain Velasquez, defending his title against challenger Fabricio Werdum.
Also on the Bellator card will be a lightweight title fight between Mike Chandler and Will Brooks.
